Our History

The Anderson Auto Group story began when Roger Anderson started his automotive career on the West Coast, quickly moving from sales to management before acquiring his first dealership in Newcastle, Wyoming. In 1986, he purchased a dealership in Grand Island, Nebraska, followed by an expansion to Lincoln in 1993, adding Ford, Lincoln, and later Mazda. A state-of-the-art facility opened off I-80 and 27th Street in 2001.

Building on this success, Anderson acquired the St. Joseph, Missouri Ford dealership in 1996, which now includes Lincoln, Kia, Mitsubishi, Honda ATV, and Quick Lane. Kia joined the Grand Island location in 2007. In 2008, Mike Anderson purchased the Auto Group from his father and now oversees operations across eight dealerships representing brands such as Ford, Lincoln, Mazda, Kia, Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Ram, Mitsubishi, and more in Grand Island, Lincoln, and St. Joseph.

Because People Matter

...We will serve your needs by always doing what is right. This is a rally point for both why and how we do our jobs, interact with each other and the people around us. As our mission moves forward there are 4 areas of impact - Our People, Our Community, Our Industry, and Our World . As efforts progress each of these areas, it begins to snowball and creates cumulative effect. Again, it all starts with people and as we care for one another well, our impact broadens to our community. As we listen and respond to local needs, we set a precedent an example for others in our community. When others in our community pick up the torch and move forward in their own impactful ways, we truly have the potential for impact locally, and regionally. As partnerships continue to grow and more fully experience positive effect on people, engagement levels will soar.

Thinking about this you begin to realize your value as a person. Everyone is contributing to a much bigger cause. Get the idea?

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

Anderson Auto Group is committed to helping Technicians develop a professional career path. The support, resources, tools and career goals are a small part of how we invest in Technicians to ensure their success. Service Technicians are encouraged to define their professional goals whether that is remaining a technician or moving into other roles within the automotive space that aligns with their strengths, capacities, and passions. Anderson Auto Group helps employees find the path and position that is right for them.

Anderson Auto Group pays for MFG training (both on and off-site travel, lodging, food, wages while at class). Tuition reimbursement for those that want to further their training and education is available, too. We partner with local community colleges and technical schools.

  • Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

When there is a job opening at Anderson Auto Group, we first look to promote from within. We believe in growing, developing, and investing in our employees will give them the best chance for advancement. We assist employees in developing a career path plan and help them achieve their professional goals. When an employee works hard, is a great teammate, has great determination and drive, and uses ethical business practices, their career will take off right before their eyes. There are ample opportunities for professional growth and advancement, as well as increases in pay. We have had numerous technicians with us for 25+ years that have moved up from lube techs, detailers, and porters to master technicians and managers. We are proud of our long-term employees that have grown with the company and essentially helped Anderson Auto Group grow into what we are and who we are today!

  • Do you have an application form and how long does it typically take to complete?

The online application takes about five minutes to fill out. Plus, we request a resume upload in our system if available.

  • Do you perform background checks, drug screens and pull MVR before hiring an applicant?

At Anderson Auto Group, we complete extensive background checks, drug screening, and check driving records. Anderson Auto Group is an equal-opportunity employer with a drug-free workplace. A pre-employment motor vehicle report and criminal background check will be conducted on the chosen candidate prior to employment.

  • After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for an offer or rejection notice?

The full hiring process takes 1-2 weeks, depending on availability.

After the in-person interview, if the hiring manager wants to proceed, background check authorizations are sent to the candidate. An offer could come within a couple days following the interview but may take longer in some cases depending on the number of applicants. Rejection letters are sent out within two weeks of the in-person interview.

  • Is the shop heated? What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

Our shops are heated and very well ventilated. Our state-of-the-art shop is warm in the winter and comfortable in the summer thanks to our 20' industrial ceiling fans throughout the shop.

Express Technicians have the option to earn tools supplied by the dealership. Technicians on the Apprentice team receive a new toolbox with tools when they complete their apprenticeship. We provide over 2,000 OEM special tools as well as computers with diagnostic software and the latest Ford factory scan tools. We also provide state-of-the-art equipment such as Hunter Hawkeye Alignment machines, Pro Cut on-vehicle brake lathes, BG Fluid Service Machines, and Hunter Tire Mounting and Wheel Balance Machines.  We have hydraulic powertrain tables and Rotary hoist ranging from 9,000 – 30,000lbs lifting capacity including Mobile column lifts. The shop is lit with bright white LED lighting and large ceiling fans for great air movement.

We also have a Safety Shoe & Safety Glasses reimbursement.

  • What is your parts ordering process? What is your policy on side work?

Our DMS system communicates with the parts department to start the process of ordering parts and getting quotes. This eliminates the need to stand at the parts counters with a list of needed parts.

We aim to keep technicians proficient and productive during scheduled hours. After normal business hours, work can be preapproved by management on a case-by-case basis. Work must be for personal or immediate family only. An open RO is required on every vehicle and must be approved by the Service Director.

We have an extremely generous employee discount that immediate family members can use.
